Scholarship Drawing Information
Scholarship Drawing
The Sallie Mae Fund is offering $5,000 in scholarships (five, $1,000 awards) to Washington-area students who participate in the event and who will be attending college in the fall 2007 or 2008 as new or returning students. (Current high school juniors and seniors are eligible to participate.) The scholarship awards reinforce the race's objective of helping students pursue higher education.
Washington, D.C., Mayor Adrian Fenty will be participating at the event and will possibly present these scholarships. Students with a financial need (a family household income below $60,000) who participate on race day would be eligible for a random drawing at the event. Scholarships will be issued payable to the college or university where the student is enrolled in the fall.
